The fifth season for the The Napa Valley Cricket Club (NVCC) wrapped up recently. The season which started back in April with a tour to Scottsdale and culminated with participation in the North Bay Last Man Stands (LMS) competition saw the club play 17 games in seven months. While their on-field record of 4 and 12 (regular games 4 – 7 & LMS games 0 – 5) may seem a poor return many of the games that the NVCC played were lost by very narrow margins. Their annual season opening Napa Valley World Series of Cricket is an internal game amongst members so doesn’t count in the overall win – loss stats.
The Napa Valley Cricket Club (NVCC) shared the spoils with two visiting San Francisco teams in the month of July. A loss to the San Francisco Seals and a win against the Twitter Kabootars brings them to .500 for their season with six games played to date since their season opening Napa Valley World Series of Cricket.
American member Jared Thatcher contributes substantially to NVCC win over Marin CC Socials in the “game of his life”
Continuing a trend for the 2016 season of standout performances from American members NVCC club stalwart Jared Thatcher had the game of his life in the recent victory over Marin CC Socials. With both ball and bat Thatcher excelled, returning figures of 2 wickets for 20 runs off 4 overs while with the bat he notched up 42 runs off 48 balls and was not out as NVCC surpassed the Marin CC total in the 33rd over. Bedeviled by old hockey injuries over the last two seasons to both his shoulder and ankle Thatcher has worked hard on his game in the nets over the last number of months and his return to full game fitness was marked by an impressive all-round display.
